The Duroc boar for the new millennium! In every generation comes a
Duroc boar to fire the imagination and renew our belief and faith in
this great breed. Such a boar is Columbus. True is his pedigree for
performance. To grow faster on less feed, stay sound and active and
produce excellent Duroc pork quality. He possesses some line-bred
old Duroc pedigrees on the sow side. Lined up for over 12
generations.
HLM Parker was lined up many times by Harry
Miller when he went to Minnesota to find Parker at Carl V. Nilson &
Sons in 1985. People have been asking for a true Duroc with that
true bred-in Duroc character. We have one here in Columbus.
He is heavy structured, wide chested with a
tremendous set of big free moving shoulder blades. Long, level
skeleton that hooks into a long, level rump with lots of thickness
of ham muscle. Super set of big even toes on both ends. Again, this
boar's pedigree is loaded with performance. His name is very
fitting, raised in Columbus, WI, and also Columbus to us means
discovery. He found America. This looks exciting for the future. His
picture was taken on November 4, after he had been through a heavy
breeding season. Yet his structure and correctness just works hand
in hand for every day hog work. As we turn into the new millennium,
this Duroc boar has lots to offer the pork world. Don't miss him!!! |
